In the May edition of the Monthly, we salute the retirement of two great racers, Poke The Bear and Jesaulenko, with a look back at their career highlights, and cover the Horsham Cup, won this year in fine style by superstar Orson Allen.
Welcome to the April edition of Greyhound Monthly Victoria. Some of the highlights in this issue include Dyna Patty’s great run in the Australia Cup and Orson Allen’s back to back wins in the Horsham and Perth Cups.
February was another busy month for Victorian greyhound racing with the Australian Cup Carnival featuring some great racing action, including a champion performance by Australia’s best stayer, Tornado Tears, in the Group 1 Zoom Top, a solid win by rising star, Deliver, in the Group 1 Rookie Rebel and a run by Barooga Brett in the Temlee that’s positioned him as dual Group 1 winner.
Last month saw a great win by Dyna Hunter in the Warragul Cup, the second leg of the Gippsland Carnival, and you can read more about it in this issue.
As we saw out December 2018, some highlights of that month included the first leg of the Gippsland Carnival, the Sale Cup, on Boxing Day which is covered in this issue along with Australia’s first ever Na-tional Greyhound Draft, held on Sunday 16 December.
Welcome to the last edition of Greyhound Monthly Victoria for 2018. The highlight of the past month was undoubtedly the Melbourne Cup, won by My Redeemer with a great run under wet conditions, and I congratulate his trainer, David Geall, on his first Melbourne Cup win.
