Harmful behaviours have no place in Victorian greyhound racing.
Most people involved in greyhound racing treat others properly and contribute to a welcoming industry. However, harmful behaviour can occur, and dismissing it as banter or saying “that is just how it is” can leave another person carrying the impact.
Harmful behaviours can include abuse, bullying, exclusion, harassment, sexual misconduct, discrimination, victimisation and vilification. They can happen in person, online, at a track, on a property or anywhere connected with greyhound racing.
Everyone has a part to play. If it is safe, check in with the person affected, speak up or quietly challenge the behaviour. You can report something that happened to you, something you witnessed, or conduct that simply did not seem right.
GRV responds using victim-centred and trauma-informed practices. Reports are assessed by trained and experienced Investigative Stewards, with safety, privacy and support considered throughout the process. Victimising someone for speaking up is itself harmful behaviour and will be treated seriously.
