Discounted De-Sexing Offered by Veterinary Clinics

Home » Re-homing » Discounted Desexing Offered by Veterinary Clinics

Whilst desexing your greyhound upon retirement is mandatory under the Code of Practice for the Keeping of Racing Greyhounds and the Greyhound Racing rules, it is also beneficial to the health and safety of your greyhound and the reputation of our highly regulated industry. GRV recommends that desexing is undertaken as soon as possible after the decision has been made to retire your greyhound however, greyhounds may also be desexed during their racing career.

Desexing can have many behavioural and overall health benefits.

For more information on the benefits of desexing refer to the GRV Desexing Fact Sheet, click here.

GRV’s Desexing and Dental Scheme (DDS) provides funding towards the desexing and, dental scale and polish of greyhounds retiring from our industry – for more information on the DDS and how to access funding click here.

In addition to GRV’s DDS voucher, there are veterinary clinics in Victoria, or near the Victorian State border, that may be willing to provide a discount to Victorian participants and rehoming groups for the desexing of greyhounds.

Some of these clinics may also offer discounts for other greyhound procedures such as dental scale and polish and vaccinations.

It is important that you contact the clinic directly to discuss pricing and to arrange an appointment. Please note that GRV plays no role in arranging appointments, the actual surgery or financial transactions.

A list of veterinary clinics that may offer discounted services for greyhounds is provided below:
