Many successful race dogs have been accepted into the Greyhound Adoption Program and been adopted by Victorian families.
One such example is Saahd, a greyhound trained by Gary Ennis who had 70 starts for 16 wins and earned more than $45,000 in prize money. Among Saahd’s standout racetrack performances was when he was involved in a historic dead-heat in the prestigious 2014 Puppy Championship final at Healesville.
While Saahd’s hard-chasing qualities were on full display in his come-from-behind performance that day at Healesville, it was a different story when he arrived at a pre-entry assessment into the Greyhound Adoption Program some time later. GAP’s pre-entry assessments help determine a greyhound’s suitability as a pet, and Saahd came through with flying colours.
