I am very pleased to report that greyhound racing continues to perform strongly in Victoria and that we have been able to maintain, and even add to, our regular racing calendar, which is indeed a privilege for which we should all be collectively grateful.
A trainer’s advice on canine gastro
Australian greyhound racing has this year experienced one of the most contagious strains of canine gastroenteritis in memory.

GRV’s paramount responsibility is the health, safety and welfare of all Victorian participants and their greyhounds and of our clubs and our staff. However, we also recognise that greyhound racing provides jobs, income and markets for thousands of people and many businesses across the State.
GRV ALERT: Canine Infectious Gastroenteritis update
There continues to be a number of new cases of gastroenteritis reported around mainland Australia including Victoria, however the majority of the initial Victorian cases are now returning back into the racing population.
GRV ALERT: GRSA TEMPORARILY SUSPENDS NOMINATIONS OF VICTORIAN TRAINED GREYHOUNDS
Victorian trainers should note that Greyhound Racing South Australia (GRSA) has temporarily suspended the taking of nominations for greyhounds from Victorian trainers until further notice. This action is aimed at limiting the spread of the current canine gastroenteritis outbreak.
GRV ALERT: DECOY COVERS
GRV advises that it is providing each of its racetracks with 12 synthetic covers which are to be used on the decoy lures in the catching pen during a race meeting.

I’d like to congratulate Fernando’s Riot and Anthony Azzopardi on a great run at the Australian Cup last Sunday. And the team at The Meadows once again did a wonderful job of presenting one of the peak events in Australia’s greyhound racing calendar.
