Prosecutions Overview

Victorian Racing Tribunal

Kevin Ward – VRT Hearing 8 April 2022 – LRR42.1, GAR106(1)(c), GAR106(1)(d) & GAR106(2), Between 2 December 2020 and 12 December 2020, Mr Ward kept a greyhound in conditions which were dangerous or detrimental to the health and safety of the greyhound, failed to provide kennels in a clean and sanitary condition, failed to provide veterinary attention to the greyhound and failed to prevent the greyhound from being subjected to unnecessary pain or suffering. Mr Ward pleaded not guilty to all charges. The VRT found him guilty of all charges and imposed a total disqualification period of 12 months.

Garry Anders – VRT Hearing 20 April 2022 – GAR83(2), failed to present the greyhound “Mr. Deeds” free of the prohibited substance ‘Morphine’ and ‘Codeine’ for an event at Warrnambool on 27 September 2021. Mr Anders pleaded guilty. The VRT found him guilty of all charges and imposed a 4-month suspension, wholly suspended for 18 months. “Mr. Deeds” was disqualified from the event.

Corey Fulford – VRT Hearing 22 April 2022 – LRR42.6(a), LRR42.6(b) & LRR42.9(a), Between March and October 2019, Mr Fulford failed to make all reasonable efforts to find a suitable home and provide a Notice of Intention to euthanise for four (4) greyhounds. Mr Fulford also failed to notify the Board within 2 working days of the deaths of five (5) greyhounds. Mr Fulford pleaded guilty to all charges. The VRT found him guilty of all charges and imposed a total suspension period of 15 months, which was wholly suspended for 15 months, in addition to a $750 fine.

Lindsay Fulford – VRT Hearing 22 April 2022 – LRR42.6(a), LRR42.6(b) & LRR42.9(a), Between July and October 2019, Mr Fulford failed to make all reasonable efforts to find a suitable home, failed to provide a Notice of Intention to euthanise and failed to notify the Board within 2 working days of the deaths of three (3) greyhounds. Mr Fulford pleaded guilty to all charges. The VRT found him guilty of all charges and imposed a suspension period of 6 months, which was wholly suspended for 6 months, in addition to a further 3-month suspension which was wholly suspended for 3 months.

Stewards’ Hearing Reports

Lina Repici – Stewards Hearing 13 April 2022 – GAR86(q), On 9 October 2021, Ms Repici engaged in conduct that was detrimental to the image of greyhound racing through the dissemination of inappropriate text messages. Ms Repici pleaded guilty. Stewards imposed a $250 fine, with $150 suspended for 12 months.

Constance McMillan – Stewards Hearing 25 April 2022 – GAR86(q), On 22 March 2022, Mrs McMillan engaged in conduct that was detrimental and/or prejudicial to the interests, control and/or image of greyhound racing by repeatedly interrupting a Stewards inquiry and raising her voice during the starting process at Healesville. Mrs McMillan pleaded guilty to both charges. Stewards imposed a total
fine of $450.
