Tasracing has advised that all racing and trialling in Tasmania has been suspended until Monday, 9 March 2026 following an outbreak of Kennel Cough.
While this outbreak is currently limited to Tasmania, Victorian participants are urged to closely monitor their greyhounds for any signs of Kennel Cough and take proactive steps to prevent spread.
What to do if you suspect Kennel Cough
If your greyhound is showing symptoms or may have been exposed:
- Withdraw them from any upcoming race nominations
- Do not trial them or take them to communal training environments
- Withdraw them from GAP appointments
Limiting movement and maintaining strict hygiene and biosecurity practices is critical to preventing wider industry disruption.
If your greyhound has not received a Kennel Cough vaccination in the last 6–12 months, speak with your veterinarian about administering a booster.
While no vaccine covers every strain, intra‑nasal and oral vaccines offer faster protection and better efficacy compared with injectable formulations for the strains they target.
