Prosecutions Overview

Victorian Racing Tribunal

Paul Herry – VRT Appeal 8 August 2023 – GAR129, the greyhound “Rose of Terang” was charged with an unsatisfactory performance at Warrnambool on 31 July 2023. Mr Herry withdrew the appeal.

Geoffrey Green – VRT Appeal 8 August 2023 – GAR125, the greyhound “Bomber’s Demon” was charged with failing to pursue by reason of injury at Warragul on 3 August 2023. Mr Green pleaded not guilty. The VRT dismissed the appeal.

Glynn Wood – VRT Hearing 15 August 2023 – GAR141(1), failed to present the greyhound “Bart’s Girl” free of the prohibited substance ‘Dexamethasone’ for an event at Geelong on 18 October 2022. Mr Wood pleaded guilty. The VRT imposed a $1500 fine. “Bart’s Girl” was disqualified from the event.

Danny Cortese – VRT Hearing 15 August 2023 – GAR141(1), failed to present the greyhound “Donald Lane” free of the prohibited substance ‘Dexamethasone’ for an event at Traralgon on 12 December 2022. Mr Cortese pleaded guilty. The VRT imposed a $1500 fine. “Donald Lane” was disqualified from the event.

Mitchell White – VRT Hearing 17 August 2023 – GAR164(b) & GAR165(c)(iv), on 11 September 2022 at Healesville, Mr White failed to attend an inquiry and engaged in contemptuous, unseemly, improper and insulting language towards the GRV Chief Steward. Mr White pleaded guilty to both charges. The VRT imposed a 4-month suspension, with 2 months suspended for 24 months, and a $3000 fine, with $1500 suspended for 24 months.

John Galea – VRT Hearing 23 August 2023 – GAR34(5)(a), LR14.3.1, GAR156(i) & GAR164(b), Between November 2022 and March 2023, Mr Galea failed to notify GRV of two (2) greyhounds leaving his custody and failed to notify GRV of the death of a greyhound within 2 working days. Further, Mr Galea refused Investigative Stewards entry to his property and prevented a kennel inspection on 22 March 2023, and failed to attend an inquiry on 20 April 2023. Mr Galea pleaded not guilty to all charges. The VRT found Mr Galea guilty on all charges and imposed a total disqualification period of 12 months, in addition to three (3) 3-month suspensions, wholly suspended for 24 months.

Judith Condo – VRT Hearing 24 August 2023 – GAR141(1), failed to present the greyhound “Eadie” free of the prohibited substance ‘Arsenic’ for an event at Bendigo on 23 November 2022. Ms Condo pleaded guilty. The VRT imposed a 6-month suspension, with 4 months suspended for 24 months. “Eadie” was disqualified from the event.

Angela Galea – VRT Hearing 30 August 2023 – GAR141(1), failed to present the greyhound “Smart Talk” free of the prohibited substance ‘Metformin’ for an event at Geelong on 6 October 2022. Ms Galea pleaded guilty. The VRT imposed a $1500 fine, with $750 suspended for 24 months. “Smart Talk” was disqualified from the event.

Stewards’ Hearing Reports

Corey Fulford – Stewards Hearing 15 August 2023 – GAR24, Mr Fulford failed to sterilise the greyhound “Shake My Hand” prior to it being retired on 14 September 2022. Mr Fulford pleaded guilty. Stewards imposed a $500 fine.

Andrew Paraskevas – Stewards Hearing 21 August 2023 – GAR165(a), On 16 June 2023, Mr Paraskevas engaged in conduct which was detrimental or prejudicial to the interest, welfare, image, control or promotion of greyhound racing during an incident at Warragul. Mr Paraskevas pleaded guilty. Stewards imposed a $2000 fine, with $1000 suspended for 12 months.

Cole Brett – Stewards Hearing 24 August 2023 – LR14.3.1, Mr Brett failed to notify GRV of the euthanasia of two (2) greyhounds within 2 working days of 9 March 2023. Mr Brett pleaded guilty. Stewards imposed a $500 fine, wholly suspended for 12 months.

Brandon Mackie – Stewards Hearing 29 August 2023 – GAR165(a), On 16 June 2023, Mr Mackie engaged in conduct which was detrimental or prejudicial to the interest, welfare, image, control or promotion of greyhound racing during an incident at Warragul. Mr Mackie pleaded guilty. Stewards imposed a $750 fine, with $250 suspended for 12 months.

Constance McMillan – Stewards Hearing 31 August 2023 – GAR165(a), On 26 August 2023, Ms McMillan conducted herself in a manner that was detrimental and/or prejudicial to the image, control and/or interests of greyhound racing at Healesville. Ms McMillan pleaded not guilty. Stewards found Ms McMillan guilty and imposed a $750 fine, with $500 suspended for 24 months.
