Home » Digital Greyhound Lifecycle Tracking

LAST UPDATE   11/09/2025

GRV has upgraded its current greyhound lifecycle tracking program for greyhounds who are in the custody of a Victorian-registered participant.

An overview of GRV’s Digital Greyhound Lifecycle Tracking program can be found at GRV’s website.

The updated program will see the lifecycle tracking of greyhounds streamlined into an automated digital process. That portal is now live at the following link.

A six-monthly hard touchpoint requirement will be introduced as part of the Digital Greyhound Lifecycle Tracking program.

A hard touchpoint is an encounter with an authorised GRV staff/ club staff or a certified vet.

Hard touchpoints that are already captured include:

  • Microchipping
  • GRIW property visit
  • Race meetings
  • Club Trials
  • Vet visits including vaccinations, desexing, dental, GRI procedures.

To assist participants meet the six-monthly hard touchpoint requirements, clubs will make scanning equipment available to participants in accordance with the below schedule.

Participants can acquire a scanner from club staff at their nearest club to scan the greyhounds which require a check-in.

Instructions will be provided on how to operate the scanner, however the process is very simple.

FAQs

Why is an update required to the lifecycle tracking of greyhounds?

GRV and the Victorian government have invested in the updated Digital Greyhound Lifecycle Tracking program to improve oversight of greyhounds at all stages of their lives and provide better mechanisms for participants to demonstrate compliance.

The new system will increase automation, the frequency and range of opportunities for participants to demonstrate compliance and provides the ability to demonstrate transparency more confidently to the community.

No, there will be no changes made to microchips.

Yes, you will receive an email if your greyhounds haven’t had a hard touchpoint in the past six months.

Is there a way for me to tell through FastTrack when my greyhounds are due for a six-monthly check in?

The Digital Greyhound Lifecycle Tracking system will notify when a greyhound in your care requires a check in, using both email and SMS services.

Will general checks or health visits to vets be classed as hard touchpoints?

At this stage all the vet touchpoints are tied to an existing GRV process, such as race events, club trials, vaccinations, dental, desexing, GRI and microchipping.

Which greyhounds will be lifecycle tracked?

All greyhounds in the care of Victorian participants will be lifecycle tracked. This includes greyhounds who have been retired into the care of a Victorian participant.
