Consultation on proposed GA and Local rules changes

GRV is seeking feedback on proposed Greyhounds Australasia (GA) Rules and Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) Local Rules.

Proposed changes to GA Rule in relation to:

• Definition of “DNA Fingerprint Analysis”
• Meaning of an Exempted Substance and Permanently banned prohibited substances and certain offences in relation to them.
• Prohibited Practices
• Restricted Practices
• Frequency of Racing
• Breeding Unit of Semen collection
• Restriction on racing if unraced for more than six months.

Proposed Local Rule changes in relation to:

• Bookmakers
• Care of injured greyhound
• Catcher and attendant supervision
• Lawful orders
• Registration conditions
• Registration eligibility and applications
• References to suspensions and repeal of local rules relevant to expired joint venture arrangements.

Next Steps

Following the 4-week consultation period, the GRV Board will consider feedback received from all stakeholders and, if necessary, make further amendment to, or not progress with any specific proposed rules.

Any of the proposed new or updated rules are approved by the GRV Board for implementation, participants will be informed.
