The Greyhound Racing Integrity Unit (GRIU) have now taken over the reins for all Code related participant support, with Ken Waixel the contact for Code related queries. Ken was part of the Code Information Session presentation team and he will continue to monitor and respond to Code Support Line calls or emails until Code of Practice is firmly established in participants’ day to day operations.
During late November and early December, Ken will be available at various race meetings to answer any questions you might have on Code. Please check FastTrack every Monday for dates and venues.
Speaking of Code assistance, the Code Support Line has received a lot of similar calls asking:
- “My EHMP is signed, how do I submit it to GRV?”, or
- “How many EHMPs do we need to do? There are X (number of) trainers on the property….”.
The Code webpage has a frequently asked question section that can be printed or saved which provides the answers to these questions and many others. From the Code webpage FAQs:
Q: Once the Vet has approved my EHMP, what happens next?
A: You will need to complete the GRV EHMP Declaration online.
Q: Who needs a copy of my EHMP?
A: As the Person in Charge, you must keep a copy of your approved EHMP at your property, to be made available on request. Do not send the EHMP to GRV.
Q. Does every person at a property have to complete an EHMP?
A: No. Only the Person in Charge needs to complete a vet approved EHMP for their establishment.
EHMP Declaration
GRV’s approach to Code implementation focused on making compliance as easy as possible for participants. This resulted in Animal Welfare Victoria agreeing that participants only need to declare they have a suitable EHMP in place that has been approved by a vet, rather than submitting their EHMP to GRV. To enable this, an online form was created where participants could make this declaration, this is the EHMP Declaration.
To access the EHMP Declaration, go to https://greyhoundcare.grv.org.au/code-of-practice/
- In the grey EHMP Declaration box, click the red SUBMIT button. The online declaration form will open.
- Enter the required information in the boxes provided.
- Tick the Yes box after the declaration and click ‘Submit’.
- You have now lodged your declaration.
Please do not post or email completed EHMPs to GRV. Codehelp has received several emails containing a written statement or photos of signed EHMPs from participants, thinking they are doing the right thing. Completing the online EHMP Declaration is the only way to make the required declaration agreed to by Animal Welfare Victoria.
If you require assistance, take your signed EHMP to your local Club and ask one of the staff to help you.

Code Feedback Survey
Thank you to those participants who have already completed the Code of Practice Participant Learning and Support Survey. The information provided will help GRV when developing participant communication, learning and support programs in the future. There is still time to provide your feedback. Simply go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GRVCoPParticipantLearningSupport for the online survey or ask at your local Club for the paper version.
