What will GRV look at when considering an application?

In considering a breeding exemption application, GRV will take into account the female’s history and health, the success of previous litters whelped, and any special circumstances described. GRV will also carefully review the veterinarian’s assessment of the health and wellbeing of the female greyhound and how these may impact on her ability to breed a litter.

Please allow up to three weeks from receipt of the application for a decision.

If the application is granted, one (1) additional service/insemination of the female is permitted but must be completed within 120 days from the date of issue of the breeding health and fitness certificate.

If the application is rejected and the applicant wishes to object, written notice of the objection and reasons should be emailed to [email protected].

In the event that GRV receives a written objection from an applicant, the objection will be referred to the GRV Industry Veterinary Officer for consideration.

There is no fee when applying for a Breeding Restriction Exemption. If an exemption is granted, then the standard GRV breeding fees will apply.
