It has been another busy month on the track with highlights including the Warrnambool Cup and the Sandown May Carnival along with a full calendar of regular race meetings.
I’d like to congratulate Fernando’s Riot and Anthony Azzopardi on a great run at the Australian Cup last Sunday. And the team at The Meadows once again did a wonderful job of presenting one of the peak events in Australia’s greyhound racing calendar.
I’d like to congratulate Whiskey Riot and connections on a great win in the 2019 TAB Melbourne Cup. And I thank Sandown Park for their great work again in presenting one of the world’s greatest greyhound races.
Welcome to the October edition of Greyhound Monthly Victoria where you can see there’s lot happening in the sport in Victoria at the moment.
With meetings held 363 days a year, there’s always something happening in Victorian greyhound racing but this last month was particularly busy.
The past financial year has seen a lot of change and progress in many areas across Victorian greyhound racing. This change has encompassed everything from amended racing rules to significant increases in stake money and breeding sustainability, major infrastructure works and the consolidation and strengthening of GRV’s animal welfare and integrity capabilities.
Greyhound Racing Victoria’s 2016-17 Annual Report was tabled in the Victorian Parliament on 19 October 2017 and it, along with a short video of the year in review are available online at grv.org.au/annualreport.
